FIVE FOLD MANIFESTATION OF LIFE:-

PRANAYAMA:-

It means control of  all expressions of life-physiological, mental, and intellectual-and not mere breath control. Pranayama is not mere svasayama.

PANCA--PRANAH:-

We may consider them  as corresponding to five physiological systems that the biologists describe:-

1.Prana:- The system of Perception: It controls all perception of the five-fold stimuli received from the outer world.

2.Apana:- System of Excretion: All things thrown out of the body - seeds, spit, perspiration, urine, stool, etc, -- are expressions of this prana.

3.Vyana:- System of Digestion: The digestion of food received in the stomach.

4.Samana:- Circulatory system: The power by which the digested food is justly conveyed to the various limbs of the body by the blood system.

5.Udana:- System of thinking: The capacity in an individual to raise his thoughts from their present level to conceive a possibility or appreciate a new principle, etc, is also a play of Prana.
